Modern Mona Lisa
'Modern Mona Lisa'
I always knew one day I would paint my own Mona Lisa.
It's such a captivating painting.
She sits in a similar way to the Madonna and child paintings of the renaissance and I felt like perhaps she is more like mother earth.
I wanted a modern take, with a god-like or mother's view of the earth and the flames for me hint towards the earths challenges ahead with climate change threatening earths species.
There is a progress timelapse video amongst the photos here and early progress shots so you can see how the painting came about.
1 of 4 paintings of this composition I created, finished April 2024.
Options below to add a pinetrim frame for an additional $20 NZD or leave as is.
Painting in Multiples
Painting in multiples is both a chaotically creative and a methodical approach, making multiple copies at the same time of one composition.
I have been inspired by artists like Steve Keene who can paint over 100 paintings per day! Incredible.
I am by no means close to this level of production, I only paint in duplicates of 2 - 6 copies of each composition.
I work on multiple compositions at a time, each with duplicate copies being made - all at the same time (around 30). This means I can produce more work, faster and can keep my pricing affordable so they are accessible and collectable.
